2024 PROGRAM
BIMFA offers an intensive schedule (click to open) focusing on close student-faculty collaboration through individual study and ensemble performance. It includes:
  • Individual lessons and master classes with world-renowned teachers
  • Chamber music and ensemble coaching
  • Opportunities to participate in Masterclass Series and Seminars.
  • Festival pass to observe all master classes, individual teaching, chamber ensemble coaching, and activities
  • Free admission to all concerts by artist-faculty, acclaimed artists and festival participants
  • Multiple opportunities for public performance by individual festival participants and selected ensembles in Gala Concert, Young Artists' Concerts and Noon Showcase
  • Eligibility to enter the Solo Piano Competition (Junior & Senior divisions) and Chamber Music/Ensemble Competition; winners to be presented in the Gala Finale Concert and future festival concert series

SOLO PIANO & CHAMBER/ENSEMBLE COMPETITIONS              The BIMFA Competitions offer students special challenges and opportunities for public recognition. Participants must be fully registered students of the festival to enter:

  • 1st Prize: $300 award. Additional opportunities include a Winner's Recital and presentation in Festival Concert Series performances in future seasons

  • 2nd Prize: $200 award

  • 3rd Prize: $100 award

BEIJING CULTURAL EXCURSIONS (8/8-8/11)                                        The historic city Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and the country's cultural, political and transportation center. Geographically located in the northern part of China, Beijing is an ancient city with a long cultural history and the second largest Chinese city with a population of more than 11 million. Served as the capital for four Chinese dynasties - Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing, Beijing possesses unparalleled scenic and historical sites that inspire exploration leading to better understanding of Chinese history, culture and the arts, and was the host city for the 2008 Olympic Games. As a special part of the cultural experience, BIMFA will organize 3-day Beijing Cultural Excursions from the following list:

  • Great Wall of China
  • Forbidden City (Palace Museum) & Tiananmen Square
  • Summer Palace or Temple of Heaven
  • Hutong Tour & Drum Tower

*The 2024 BIMFA program fees are inclusive of all excursion site entrance admission, local transportation, local tour guides and translators, accommodation, as well as airport transfers.

Program Fees for International Student

$3600 USD; Full 2-Week Student Program Plus 3-day Beijing Cultural Excursions (8/8 arrival in Beijing; 8/26 departure from Qingdao). Full program fees are inclusive of full session tuition, room and board, solo piano & chamber-ensemble competitions, festival pass to all festival activities, concert-series admission, practice facilities, local transportation & airport transfers, plus 3-day Beijing cultural excursions, and a one-way Beijing-Qingdao high-speed train ticket. 

$2000 USD; One-Week Student Program Plus 3-day Beijing Cultural Excursions (8/8 arrival & 8/19 departure from Beijing). Program fees are inclusive of one-week session tuition, room and board, festival pass to all festival activities, concert-series admission, practice facilities, 3-day Beijing cultural excursions, local transportation & airport transfers. 


Program Fees for International Auditor & Parent

$1800 USD; Full 2-week Auditor/Parent Program Plus 3-day Beijing Cultural Excursions (8/8 arrival in Beijing; 8/26 departure from Qingdao). Auditor/parent fees are inclusive of room and board, festival pass to all festival activities, concert-series admission, local transportation & airport transfers, plus a one-way Beijing-Qingdao high-speed train ticket, but without music instruction and practice facility.

$1000 USD; One-week Auditor/Parent Program Plus 3-day Beijing Cultural Excursions (8/8 arrival & 8/19 departure from Beijing) Auditor/parent fees are inclusive of room and board, festival pass to all festival activities, concert-series admission, local transportation & airport transfers, Beijing 3-day cultural excursions, but without music instruction and practice facility.

*Auditor/Parent only need to fill out Application Form for Auditor & Accompanying Parent with the required deposit.

Important Notice

Direct and connecting flight services to Beijing from the U.S. include Air China, Continental, United, American, Delta, China Eastern Airline, Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Japan Airline, Air Canada and others. Please consult with your local travel agency for more details.
