APPLICATION PROCEDURES

All applications must include the following:

  1. A completed application form
  2. An audition Tape/CD/DVD (2-3 contrasting pieces/movements of free repertoire about 10-20 minutes in length) to determine your placement and level of proficiency.
  3. A letter of recommendation from your teacher if you do not regularly study with a teacher on the BIMFA faculty.
  4. Non-refundable application fee plus a refundable deposit of $300 (*Please see fees & payment schedule below)

All admission materials should be mailed together and postmarked by the deadlines (see below).We encourage all interested candidates to apply as early as possible. Notification of acceptance is made on a continuing basis starting in mid-late March or within 2-3 weeks after the receipt of your application. Late applications will be considered only if spaces are available. please make check/money order in U.S. dollars payable to BIMFA.

FEES, PAYMENT SCHEDULE & REFUND POLICY

Nonrefundable Application Fees

  • No application fee for former BIMFA participants and all auditors/parents
  • $30 postmarked on or before February 28
  • $60 postmarked between March 1 to 31
  • $80 postmarked between April 1 to 30
  • $100 late application fee after MAY 1.                                             ***Late applications after May 1st may be accepted pending space availability, please email for more information.

Program Fees

*In celebration of our 5th anniversary season, BIMFA will offer a major fee reduction to all former participants.

  • Professional Division
          $1900 for 2-week program from Aug.11-24, 2010

Professional Division Fees are inclusive of deposit, tuition, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, practice facilities, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers.

  • Extension Division

$1100 for 1-week program from Aug.11-17 or Aug. 18-24, 2010

$1900 for 2-week program from Aug. 11-24, 2010

Extension Division Fees are inclusive of deposit, tuition, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, practice facilities, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers.

  • Auditor/Parent*

$1100 for 2-week program in Beijing from Aug.11-24, 2010

Auditor/Parent Fees are inclusive of deposit, room and board, festival pass, concert-series admission, all excursion expenses with local transportation, plus round-trip airport transfers.

*Auditor/parent only needs to fill out an application form (indicating auditor or parent) with the required deposit.

Payment Schedule   

  • All application must include a nonrefundable application fee along with a refundable deposit of $300* before any evaluation can take place
  • All remaining balance is due on May 15, 2010

After June 10th, all payments should be made directly into the festival account by electronic options. Please email for details.
* Please note the deposit of $300, applicable toward the program fees, will be refunded if you are not accepted as a participant. If for any reason you are unable to attend, a written request for deposit refund must be received by June 1, 2010 or the deposit will be forfeited with no exception.

 

Refund Policy

  • Absolutely NO deposit refund after June 1, 2010
  • The remaining balance of paid program fee is fully refundable before July 20, 2010
  • Cancellation made after July 20, 2010 does NOT entitle to a refund of any kind

SCHOLARSHIP

A limited amount of tuition scholarship assistance may be available for highly-qualified students in the professional division. A written request for scholarship & financial assistance, along with your application, audition tape, a letter of recommendation, resume and non-refundable application fee, must all be received together by March 1, 2010 before any evaluation can take place, regardless whether or not you already study with member of BIMFA faculty.

FLIGHT, VISA & TRAVEL INFORMATION

Please Note: The 2010 festival arrival date is August 10 (U.S. flights normally depart on Aug. 9 ) and return date from Beijing is August 25.

Direct and connecting flight services to Beijing from the U.S. include Air China, Continental, United, American, Delta, China Eastern Airline, Korean Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Japan Airline, Air Canada and others.

You are fully responsible for your own airfare, passport costs, Chinese  visa fees, medical and travel insurance and other personal expenses.
